Christina Maddison- Muchlinski & Ian Maddison

I remember Uncle John visiting England with Fran when I was a little girl and Canada seemed a world away ! At 17 for my 18th birthday present I was able to board a Boeing 747 and visit this far away destination. I have great memories from this time and as they say in Canada , I had a ball! Uncle John took me to a nightclub and we had great fun - I remember his face when I asked for a Tio Pepe sherry ( I'd never had one but I thought it seemed sophisticated ) and his mirth when I took a sip and found it to be so foul tasting ! (I drank it though !) My Uncle John and Aunty Viv were great people and were a perfect match for each other. Happy times were spent together in England or Canada. When Ian and I became a couple we spent many an hour eating, drinking , debating and laughing with Viv, John, Fran and Duncan on our visits to Canada. My Mum's visit to Canada was one of the highlights of her life as we managed to get her there via the Queen Mary and then an adventurous road trip from New York where we met Ian for that leg of the journey . Ian had no luggage as it had been lost in transit and Mum admired Viv's pluckiness as she observed her opening the door to her house in the early hours of the morning to the biggest man she had ever set eyes upon with Ian's luggage - John was fast asleep and we were staying with Fran and Duncan ! There are so many many memories that we are lucky to have and our lives have been made richer by Uncle John and Anuty Viv being part of them. We are fortunate to have shared many of these memories with Fran and Duncan and that part of the journey goes forward. We will continue to remember the past whilst making new memories for the future. Christina and Ian
