Obituary for Maxwell Russell Jackson

Maxwell Russell Jackson
JACKSON, MAXWELL RUSSELL–

The family of Maxwell Russell Jackson are saddened to announce his passing at Markham-Stouffville Hospital on March 31, 2016. Max died peacefully with his family at his side.

Max was born November 5, 1924 in Caledonia, Ontario. There are several significant benchmarks in Max's long, successful life. A proud but quiet Navy Vet, Max served in the engine room on the Corvette Port Arthur doing convoy duty in the North Atlantic and English Channel during World War II. He didn't talk much about it but we learned enough to know he served his country and freedom well. Following the War he earned a BSc (Eng) from Queen's, eventually becoming Plant Manager at the Ford Motor Windsor Casting Plant.

The most significant aspect of Max's life was his family. He was predeceased by his parents, Clarence Maxwell and Lee (Nye). Max was terribly saddened by the loss of his beloved wife, Margo (Gouthro) in 2005. It was love at first sight at a Queen's football game. They had 56 happy years and many fond memories together. Max is survived by his sister Shirley McHarg, as well as his children, Maxwell Rand (Martha), Judy White (Jim), and Sharon Lee Dinsmore (Tom). He was also the proud Papa to Christopher, Carolyn, Sarah, Andrew, Robert, Matty, and Teddy, and Grand Papa to Curtis, Evin and Jonah.

Max made many connections through his various hobbies and activities both pre and post retirement. In different periods teaching, boating, sailing, flying, skeet-shooting, and repairing antique clocks kept him busy, not to mention pro-bono tax preparation services "to the elderly" while in his '70's. He was always recognized for his honesty, integrity, organization, and last but not least, his engineering approach to many of life's challenges.
The family wishes to thank the family of the late Johanna Friend for their friendship to Max over the years. Also a special thanks to the staff at Amica and Markham Stouffville Hospital for their kind, sensitive care.

A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Patrick's Parish, 5633 Highway #7 (at McCowan), in Markham on April 5, 2016 at 10 am. Interment to follow at Christ the King Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Markham Stouffville Hospital. Online condolences may be made at www.dixongarland.com
