We feel we know who you are already though, because your Dad talked about you often. We got to know Gord from dining at the pub. For a number of years we had dinner there every Friday night, and of course Gord would be at his table, with his silver tankard of ale, enjoying a quiet meal. One night the pub was filled and there was no table for us. Gord quickly resolved the situation by asking us to join him and so it began - Friday night at the pub dining with Gord. We met every week and chatted about our families, farming, hockey, life at the law firm, the old days. My Mom is the same age as Gord, so we would compare her early life growing up in North Toronto with his. This went on for years. We always looked forward to seeing him. Sometimes we met at other resaurants in the area. He would meet us there. Then after Ian left the pub we both gradually drifted away and our routine ended. We kept saying "we must call Gord and go out for dinner" but time somehow slips away and we never did. How sorry I am that we never had a chance to tell him how much he meant to us!! My Dad died last February at 91. His funeral was also at Dixon-Garland in Markham and he is buried at Elmwood. When we visit Dad we will also make sure we say hello to Gord. It is comforting to know that they will be together.
