MACKENZIE, Kathleen Edna (nee McLaughlin)
From her birth on May 29th, 1928, on the beautiful Isle of Man, to her peaceful death on Saturday at her long-time home of Markham, Ontario, Kathleen lived her life to the fullest—volunteering for the Royal Women’s Auxiliary Airforce during WWII, raising five children, going back to school at 40 to become a nurse, travelling the world with family and friends, and being a compassionate member of her church community. Kathleen embodied what it means to truly live a vibrant life. Predeceased by her loving husband and soul mate, William, in 1989, Survivrd by her dear sister Gerrie Hornsby in the Isle of Mann. Kathleen was a fun-loving, kind and generous mother to her children: Paul (Irene), Geraldine, William (Nessi), Harry (Najma) and Scott (Andrea) and was loved dearly by her grandchildren: Melanie, Jennifer, Allyson, Brianne, Austin, Alexa, Dylan, and Hector, as well as her great-grandchildren: Maeve, Carson, Fiona, Harlan, and Cooper. Kathleen will be remembered by the many whose lives she touched as a bright, shining light. Funeral services will be held on Monday, September 18th, 2017 at 1pm at St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church, 143 Main St N, Markham, with a Celebration of Life to follow.
