Obituary for David John Lennon

David John Lennon
April 30th, 1959 – January 24th, 2017
It is with great sadness that Dave has lost his battle with brain cancer (Glioblastoma). He is survived by a truly wonderful family, his wife, Helen, of 33 years, and children, Jesse, Casey, Kelly and Elizabeth. He is also survived by his amazing father, John, brothers and sisters, Michael, Jeff (Pat), Julie (Joe), Craig (Sandy), Cindy (Larry), mother in law Rhoda Stern, brothers in law, Roger, Richard (Virginia) and Philip (Lisa) and 21 nieces and nephews. His dogs, Gus and Maggie, will forever miss their walks with him at Happy Land. Married to his high school sweetheart, Helen was his partner for life. His love for her cannot be described by words rather the way he would look at her. “I love you more each day”. Dave was the devoted son of the late Joan Lennon; whose passing broke his heart. Never a day went by, both before and after, that Dave didn’t pick up the phone to call his dad, show up for lunch, rake his leaves, shovel the snow or to just chat. You’ve never met a man who loved his parents like Dave loved his. His parents instilled work ethic, politeness, respect, the importance of always helping one another, and always celebrating an occasion by coming together with food, drink and love. Over the last 21 months, many thanks go to many people for their kindness, love and support. CCAC's St Elizabeth’s branch has been in our lives for most of that time, with their tremendous nurses George and Joyce attending to him weekly. Dr.Patterson from the palliative care unit at Markham Stouffville Hospital. Sunnybrook Odette Centre, Dr.James Perry and his team. To all the help of friends and family who have made life much easier, from driving to radiation to many dropped off meals. Many thanks go out to Leanne, Jen, Liz, Bruce, Mary, Mark, Andy, John, Julie, Rhoda, Michael, Tina, Charlie, Cathy and our Albert/Elm/Houghton families. You all gave us courage and energy to continue fighting. A big special thank you goes out to Dave's son, Casey. Casey took on the task of nurse, PSW, chef, cleaner, DJ, entertainer, grounds keeper and lumberjack. If Dave were able to know what Casey gave to him, he would be gushing with pride. Dave's life will be celebrated as he wished, as an open house at Cedar Brae Golf Club Sunday February 12, 2017 from 1:00pm – 4:00pm located at 55 Mac Frost Way, Scarborough, ON M1X 1N6 (casual attire).

Roses are red
Violets are blue
A day won't go by
That we won't think of you
