Ysseldyk, Barbara Joan (nee Plummer) – Barbara of Liverpool, Nova Scotia was called to be with her Lord in Markham, Ontario on Thursday October 15, 2015. She was born on February 2, 1934 to the late Freda and Raymond Plummer. She is survived by her husband Bob, her two loving children Timothy Roy (late Barbara) and Lesley Jane, her brother James and Mary Plummer of Brooklyn, N.S., her sisters Dorothy Hakimen of Liverpool, N.S. and Pauline and Robbie Hatt of Milton, N.S. In her early years Barbara was very active in her church where she was in charge of the Junior Choir. After moving to Toronto in 1972, Barbara became involved with a Canadian national women’s charity, the Imperial Order Daughters of the Empire (IODE). A charter member of IODE Bridlewood, in Agincourt, she worked tirelessly to support children in need through the funds raised by chapter members. Barbara became involved with IODE at the Toronto Municipal level and promoted membership initiatives. After she moved to Markham in 1979, she gathered new neighbours and friends together to establish the IODE Dr. Innis Mary MacDonald Chapter. As its first President she was instrumental in guiding the members in serving the community through the mission of IODE. Honored as a primary Life Member of IODE, Barbara served as President several times during her 30-year volunteer involvement in Markham. Cremation has taken place. For a time of Fellowship and refreshments, friends may call the DIXON-GARLAND FUNERAL HOME, 166 Main Street N. (Markham Road) Markham on Thursday October 29th from 11am to 1pm.
